Metallic Silicon

Silicon metal, also known as crystalline silicon or industrial silicon, is an industrially purified elemental silicon that can be used to produce high-purity semiconductor materials. The grade of silicon metal reaches 99.999 (5N) purity. Mainly used for the production of silicon and applied in the 3C industry, it can also be used as an additive in non-ferrous alloys for various applications such as manufacturing high-purity semiconductor materials. Silicon is a non-metallic element, blue gray, metallic, hard and brittle. The content of silicon accounts for about 26% of the shell mass, and the commonly used grades of metallic silicon are usually divided based on the content of primary impurities such as iron, aluminum, and calcium contained in metallic silicon.

Silicon metal (Si) is an industrial purified elemental silicon mainly used for the production of silicon, the preparation of high-purity semiconductor materials, and the preparation of special purpose alloys.

1. Metal silicon produces silicone, such as silicone rubber, silicone resin, and silicone oil.

Silicone rubber has good elasticity and high temperature resistance, and can be used to manufacture medical supplies, high-temperature gaskets, etc. Silicone resin is used in the production of insulation paint, high-temperature resistant paint, etc. Silicone oil is an oily substance, and its viscosity is minimally affected by temperature. Used for producing lubricants, polishing agents, fluid springs, dielectric liquids, etc.

2. Manufacturing high-purity semiconductors using metallic silicon

Almost all modern integrated circuits are made of high-purity metallic silicon, which is the main raw material for producing optical fibers. It can be said that metallic silicon has become the fundamental pillar industry of the information age.

3. Metal silicon alloy

Silicon aluminum alloy is a type of silicon alloy that contains a large amount of metallic silicon. Silicon aluminum alloy is a strong composite deoxidizer. Replacing pure aluminum in the steelmaking process can improve the utilization rate of deoxidizers, purify molten steel, and improve the quality of steel. Silicon aluminum alloy has low density, low coefficient of thermal expansion, good casting performance and wear resistance. The alloy castings cast with it have high impact strength, high pressure density, and can greatly improve their service life. It is often used to produce aerospace and automotive components.

Silicon copper alloy has good welding performance and is less prone to sparks when subjected to impact. It has explosion-proof function and can be used to make storage tanks.

Adding silicon to steel to make silicon steel sheets can greatly improve the magnetic permeability of steel, reduce hysteresis and eddy current losses, and can be used to manufacture iron cores for transformers and motors, thereby improving the performance of transformers and motors
