Production Process of Silicon Metal
The production of silicon metal involves the reduction of silicon dioxide (SiO2) with carbon in an electric arc furnace. The process can be summarized as follows:
Raw material preparation
The production of silicon metal mainly uses silica and carbonaceous reducing agents (such as petroleum coke, washed coal, charcoal, etc.). These raw materials need to be washed, screened and dried to ensure their purity and quality.

Electric Arc Furnace
The silicon dioxide is charged into an electric arc furnace along with carbon electrodes.

Reduction
The electric arc creates an intense heat, which causes the silicon dioxide to reduce and combine with the carbon to form Si metal.

Tapping
Once the reduction process is complete, the molten Si metal is tapped from the furnace.

Refining
The tapped Si metal undergoes further refining processes to remove impurities and achieve the desired composition and properties.
